Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Sarah Pugh
It has been a great year so far in the Big Sandy English classroom. We have read novels: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, and The Giver by Lois Lowry, among others; the seniors read Macbeth by William Shakespeare (with a equal parts of bewilderment and enjoyment, I hope); and we have written and written and written. As the year passes, I am seeing improvements in my students' writing, and every day I am enjoying the stories, essays, and repsonses that they produce. All I can hope is that the second half of the year continues to yield results and enjoyment in my classes.
With that, I hope you are having a great year so far, and I look forward to my students sharing their writing in the Walter Gerson Poetry Contest in April and May, put on by Ellaraine Lockey. Be sure to look for their poems in the spring and support them in the difficult task of sharing something as personal as writing.
Thank you for reading!
