Hi Parents, for "return" students, registration packets were sent home. Please complete the packet and send back to school by tomorrow, Friday, August 21.

Important information regarding spectators at athletic events:
1) Big Sandy is allowing spectators at all HOME athletic events!
2) Masks will be required for INDOOR events; OUTDOOR events will be dependent upon the governor's mandate regarding 4 or more cases. Additional safety information will be provided at games. Please be cooperative so our kids can continue to have their season!
3) Names/phone numbers will be collected at events for contact tracing purposes. You will only have to fill out a contact information card one time (we'll keep it on file). If you'd like to pre-register before the first home game, please call Wendy in the HS office.
4) If you are attending an AWAY game, please contact the school by no later than Wednesday of the week of the game (Friday of the week prior if it's a Tuesday volleyball game). Not every school will allow all spectators (some are allowing ONLY parents), but all request the best possible list of traveling spectators possible. Here are a few of the safeguards we are putting in place to make sure our students, staff and community stay healthy!
Temperature Checks
Students and staff will be screened for fevers daily. If your child rides a bus they will be screened before entering the bus. A temperature over 100.4 will result in your child not being allowed to attend school. Students must be fever free for 24 hours before coming back to school.
Attendance
If your child is sick, or a family member is sick, please keep your child home from school. Communicating with the school secretary that your child is home with any symptoms that include, but not limited to, a sore throat, fever, headache, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, cough, or chest tightness will result in them having an excused medical absence.
Face Coverings
Fabric masks will be available for students and staff and washed and sanitized daily at the school. Also proper wear and care of masks will be taught. Masks are intended to be used in instances where social distancing canโt be maintained, such as passing in the hallway.
Water Fountains
The fountain part has been covered up but the bottle refilling station remains open. You can send a water bottle to school with your child that they can fill in the water bottle filling station. If you donโt have a water bottle to send the school has some available.
Hands Free
We are installing hands free sanitizers, soaps and paper towel dispensers throughout the school.
Cafeteria
Elementary students will eat on a staggered lunch schedule to provide the opportunity for distancing groups. Jr. High and High Schools students will receive lunch at the high School and be allowed to spread out in the concessions area and gym.
(Safeguards are subject to change due to ever changing circumstances)

Today, July 30th, The Big Sandy School Board approved a phased reopening plan for Big Sandy Schools in accordance with the State of Montana phased plans. We are planning to open the school in Phase 2 of our plan which means a full return to school with a normal schedule and safeguards in place. This plan was approved with the understanding that our phases could change before our opening date of August 19th and also during the school year.
Parents have the option of choosing off-campus online instruction for their children for this school year. If you would like to choose that option please fill out the form included below and return to the school by August 10th. (Remember that choosing the off-campus online instruction makes your child ineligible for extra-curricular activities.)

Principal Woleryโs Positive Pioneer Praises
There are so many great things going on at our school and I think itโs high time I shout it from the rooftops! Iโll be sharing some Positive Pioneer Praises each week in the paper. My first praise goes out to our students, the heart of our school. We have 103 students in the Elementary and 99 in our High School Building, which is 7-12. They have already been learning for approximetely 15,912 minutes over 34 days of school! Their average attendance rate for this year so far is 94%! On top of school they are also involved in everything from Football, Volleyball, Soccer to Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and the Community Play. We have great students that understand what Pioneer PRIDE is and show us everyday through their willingness to try hard, work hard, and play hard! When you see our students around town tell them what a great job they are doing and I hope you are as proud of them as I am! Way to go STUDENTS!
