📢 Important Information: MAST Testing for Grades 3-8
Big Sandy School will begin Montana's new MAST (Montana Aligned to Standards Through-Year) assessment starting October 13th for students in grades 3-8.
Unlike the old end-of-year testing, MAST breaks assessments into smaller testlets throughout the year across three testing windows (Fall, Winter, and Spring). This gives teachers and families more actionable information about student progress throughout the school year.
📋 What you need to know:
Testing begins October 13
Each testlet takes 15-30 minutes
Results provided weekly after completion
Tests cover Math and English Language Arts
A detailed parent notification letter with testing windows, FAQs, and resources is now available on our website under documents.

We are sending Flu Shot forms home today with the elementary students. If you want your child to receive a flu shot at school on Thursday, Oct. 9 please return the form and payment/ins. info by next Tuesday, Oct. 7. This flu shot clinic is provided by Chouteau County Health Department.

Red Ribbon Week is coming up at the end of October, and we're excited to celebrate making healthy, drug-free choices! We wanted to give you a heads-up so you have plenty of time to get items ready. Don't forget--the Medical Guild's rummage sale is happening this weekend, which is a great place to find fun, inexpensive clothing to match our theme days!
Here's what we've got planned:
* Monday: Pajama Day ---"Follow your dreams, say no to drugs"
* Tuesday: Sports/Jersey Day -- "Team up against drugs"
* Wednesday: Neon Colors Day -- "Too bright for drugs"
* Thursday: Halloween Costumes -- "Say 'Boo' to drugs"
We can't wait to see everyone's school spirit and creativity!
